In Memory of 9/11/2001

This was a bronze statue to honor fallen firemen. It was commissoned by a fire dept. in another state, and was being transported to them when 9/11 happened. The statue ended up staying in New York City at that time, and became one of many impromptu memorials that sprang up all over the city then. This photo was taken less than 2-1/2 weeks after the attacks on the World Trade Center towers. We were able to be there and witness with our own eyes, this tragic time in America's history. I'll be forever grateful for that. And will always help me "remember 9/11"

God Bless America!

Dining riverside on The Riverwalk-San Antonio, Tx

View from the balcony at Casa Rio restaurant on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Tx. Fun place to go to, had good food and fun to walk all around the river and the different restaurants, shops and all the hotels that line the Riverwalk.

The River Center Mall-San Antonio, Tx

Catching a river taxi at the mall, taking the "Riverwalk" tour---fun, fun!

Beautiful landscaping at The Alamo

This is just a small part of the beautiful landscaping and park like setting of The Alamo.

Touring The Alamo

Touring another section of The Alamo. Very interesting place to visit. Love history, and old buildings, etc. So fascinating!

The Alamo-shrine

This is one of the buildings on the Alamo grounds, now a shrine with flags from several, if not all, states and flowers all around too. Everyone inside pretty quiet, as it is a shrine to the fallen heroes of the Alamo. Very interesting to view.

This was an adorable penquin and baby that someone had created out of the recent snowfall we'd had. Sadly, it only lasted for a day and a half. The temps hit the low 50's and didn't take long to melt. There's more snow on the way this weekend, so would be fun to see if the penquin and baby return. This shot was taken at night; there was a blue light on it for emphasis. I'd hoped to get back the next morning to get a day shot, but didn't happen.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

This is the Valentine's day spread of goodies I had at a "Wine and Choclate" tasting party one year. What a blast!

This was one of the late blooming roses from my front yard, still blooming well into November. Beautiful, and nicley scented roses. Don't remember the type, but they are Jackson-Perkins brand roses, and they are the best ones I've ever had. Always bloom profusely, and always into late fall, until first real hard freeze.
